زهرة التوليب هي زهرة ترمز للمشاعر الصادقة الرقيقة
اصل التسمية كلمة فارسة دُلبند والتي تعني العمامة او القماش الملفوف على الرأس وذلك بسبب تشابه شكل الزهرة مع لفات العمامة التقليدية
وهناك قصة رمزية لهذه الزهرة اللطيفة
يُحكى في التراث الفارسي أن شابًا يُدعى فرهاد كان يحب فتاة اسمها شيرين حبًا عميقاََ وفي يوم من الأيام سمع خبرًا كاذبًا بأن حبيبته قد توفيت
من شدة حزنه اندفع بحصانه نحو الجبال وعندما سقط ومات قيل إن قطرات دمه التي سالت على الأرض نبتت منها زهور التوليب الحمراء لذلك أصبحت التوليب الحمراء رمزًا لـ الحب الصادق الذي قد يصل إلى التضحية
هوس التوليب القرن السابع عشر في هولندا أصبحت هذه الزهرة غالية الثمن جداً nلدرجة أنها تسببت في أول فقاعة اقتصادية في التاريخ حيث كان ثمن بصلة واحدة من التوليب يعادل ثمن منزل فجأة في عام 1637 توقف الناس عن الشراء انهار السوق على الفور، وهبطت الأسعار بشكل حاد الكثيرون فقدوا ثرواتهم بالكامل
أصبح الهوس بالتوليب مثالًا على أول فقاعة اقتصادية مسجلة في التاريخ
ومن الجدير بالذكر هذه الزهرة صالحة للأكل خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية وتحديداً في فترات المجاعة اضطر الناس لأكل بصلات التوليب (بعد تحضيرها بطرق معينة) للبقاء على قيد
وكل لون من زهرة التوليب ترمز لشيء معين
